A bag of organic oat flour costs about $7 a bag for 18 ounces- easily make your own for a fraction of the price to keep on hand for a baking substitute. All you need is organic rolled oats and a blender or food processor.
How to use oat flour in recipes?
I often replace a portion of regular flour in recipes for oat flour. You can do a 1:1 ratio substitution but it might alter the final product a bit. I tend to stick with substituting half the flour, and in recipes calling for baking powder, I also up the ratio by about 50%
Working in batches, blend your oats to a smooth flour texture and add to a jar for storing.
